Analog vs Digital Summing - Analog summing worth it?

"I plugged it into my studio, 1-24 Pro tools (Outs) and found the Neve 1272s to be the best sounding pre amps for the 2 buss on the mixes I was working on. the TubeTech MP1A also sounded great, the Focusrite was nice and the APIs were ok, too. My REVIEW: Clarity and Glue. It clearly sounds better than in the box summing, but you all knew that would be the case. It also sounds better than the AMEK console that I had been using for summing mixes. I had sold the console and this was one of the replacement parts. I am Very Happy. I would highly recommend Paul Taylor's custom built products. he was easy to deal with, great communication and ultimately a great sounding box that let me interface the preamps I already have as the 2 buss. A serious upgrade for a box that is reasonably priced for what it does. I would love to hear the other active summing mixers that he makes, but for now, I am a happy studio owner with the box he sent me. Thanks, Paul."

Vintage Maker - Stereo to mono function - signal routing from DAW to SUMMING BOX cubase
STM - stereo to mono function
For example you may want to keep the Kick and the Bass in the middle of your mix, you would then flip the switch to UP ST1 to 1/2 for mono conversion
STM function converts signals meant to be in the middle of the stereo spectrum, converts the Stereo input L/R (two hard panned L/R Input) signals to absolute center placed Analog Mono signal.

However, for mono signals (such as kick, snares, lead vocals or bass that should appear centered in the middle of a mix), it would be a waste to use (Stereo L/R panned channels) what would amount to two required converters for a mono result.
In such cases, channel pairs 1 & 2 / 3 & 4  may be switched to mono mode (ST1 stereo to 1-2) so that, for example, there might be a (mono) KICK on channel 1Left, BASS on channel 2Right

DAW Mono Kick: ----   ST1 Left out   (interface 1 Left out)-------- sum Left 1IN
DAW Mono Bass:------ST1 Right out  (interface 2 Right out)-----sum Right 2IN
then switch ST1 to 1/2  mono ! (check on youtube)

* with STM(Stereo to mono)option can save a lot of DAW interface out
** no need to waste precious stereo CH's for mono instruments
***clarity of position in the stereo field (mono is true mono)
Customer Review

"after some testing and comparing to the Shadow Hills and Rupert Neve, i´m happy to tell you that your summing amp is playing in the same league. The difference are not huge, but they are listenable, and i like what i´m hearing with yours. For me (and also a very good friend and mastering engineer) it´s even better in the sound then the others i´ve compared it to. I finally went with yours and i´m very happy with this decision.
So all in all, i´m so happy with this unit.
I will sell my Neve and give back the Shadow Hills. Thanks so much. Moritz
